More about the artwork

Whisky made me do it! is a bold declaration of freedom — a playful yet defiant invitation to explore desire, break expectations, and live without apology. In a world that constantly asks women to find the “right balance” — to enjoy, but not too much; to be free, but not too loud — this piece embraces disinhibition as an act of agency rather than excess. It celebrates the moment when control loosens and authenticity takes the lead.

The composition draws directly from The Creation of Adam by Michelangelo, a universal symbol of connection, origin, and transcendence. Here, however, the divine gesture is reimagined through irony: two hands reach not toward God, but toward glasses of whisky. The sacred is replaced with pleasure, and transcendence gives way to indulgence. It is not a fall from grace, but a conscious choice to redefine what fulfillment looks like.

In this reinterpretation, the hands no longer seek perfection or spiritual elevation. They meet in a shared moment of desire, intimacy, and impulse. Whisky becomes a symbol of permission — not as an excuse, but as a catalyst — allowing instinct to surface and rules to dissolve, if only briefly.

The title reinforces this tension with humor and provocation. “Whisky made me do it” suggests blame, but ultimately reveals responsibility. The drink may loosen inhibitions, but the choice remains ours. The work questions how often women are expected to justify pleasure, confidence, or audacity — and how quickly enjoyment is framed as excess when it belongs to us.

This piece speaks to autonomy through contradiction: control and surrender, restraint and indulgence, intention and impulse. It challenges the idea that empowerment must always look composed or polished. Sometimes, power appears in moments of release, laughter, and unapologetic enjoyment.

Whisky made me do it! is not about glorifying alcohol, but about reclaiming desire. It is an invitation to inhabit pleasure without guilt, to trust instinct, and to allow moments of excess to exist without explanation.

At its core, the work celebrates a form of freedom that is messy, joyful, and honest — reminding us that empowerment can be loud, imperfect, and deliciously unfiltered.

We like to blame something else for our choices. It makes responsibility feel lighter, at least in our heads. In the end, owning them is always more honest.”
